William Jefferson Clinton sat near FIFA president Sepp Blatter in the stands and appeared to be nervous throughout the game, as the American squad created a host of chances, but failed to capitalize until the very end with a Landon Donovan put-away.After the game, Clinton visited the players briefly in the locker toom to congratulate them on the victory.
Clinton may not have been aware of the details of the achievement, but he was pleased about it all the same.
